🟢 RACE 8, B58, 1500m 🟢

#2 THE RED KITE * win ($3.2)

‍

I'm not usually one to rush into anything at B58 level, nor anything on Sythentic tracks full stop to be honest, but this now- 4YO, THE RED KITE looks to have found the ideal race to strike here in this grade Friday @Ballarat.

‍

His past 3 runs have been in town in competitive 3YO grade/races and he's had excuses each and every time...

‍

The last time this horse ventured to this track/trip/surface, he smacked them in a maiden by 4.25 lens, further giving us confidence here that this is his race to lose..

🇦🇺 FLEMINGTON SATURDAY 🐎

🟢 RACE 1, 3YO, BM 70, 1400m  🟢

‍

#4 BERKELEY SQUARE win ($2.4)

#7 PALAGGIO ew ($6.5)

Think we can back two horses here and get a result on the race..

‍

#4 BERKELEY SQUARE was huge last start, after being sluggish out of the gates, then poorly navigated in the home straight. With a better ride, he wins the race without doubt..  

‍

His closing sectionals were the best of the entire meeting on that occasion.

‍

Craig Williams (who's inform dare I say!?) jumps on this time and from an ideal draw in 3, providing he jumps cleanly, should get the run of the race.

‍

He's a very progressive young 3YO this horse and the big, wide open spaces of Flemington look right up his alley! 

‍

#7 PALAGGIO couldn't of been more impressive on debut on the sythentic and hails from a top stable. 

‍

While he didn't beat much, it was in the fashion he did it more so, that just can't be ignored..

‍

He draws ideally in 1 (Meech knows only one way- lead), where he has enough pace to either lead these or hold a very forward position (1st or 2nd on the rail) and the way he let down late last time, he can't be ignored in this..  

‍

He has a lovely big stride on him and looks a horse with a decent future going forward.

🟢 RACE 3, B70, 1100m 🟢

#13 VERANSKOVA ew ($4.2)

Love the way this 5YO mare has come back this preparation for the Cindy Alderson stable... 

‍

She is quite lightly raced, but she has always looked like a mare that's been a work in progress and would improve with time and racing.

‍

She was terrific last start, when going awfully close to knocking off the talented SQUID GAME, when looking a tad lost early up the straight, before really knuckling down late and dropping on them out wide.

‍

With Mark Zahra going on here is a huge advantage, as too is the extra 100m in distance she gets this time... 

‍

The one and only query for mine,  is clearly drawing an inside gate. 

‍

It can be a trap for horses up the straight, but with a big race rider in the irons, if he can navigate a passage early in running and latch onto the right back, she will be terribly hard to hold out late on!!....

‍

Since her impressive last start effort, she has had a jump out at Cranbourne recently, where she looked ultra impressive and looks to be right in the zone for this assignment.

‍

#4 BIG APPLE ($10) is the danger in the race and worth saving on at the big odds.

‍

This 4YO gelding is in very good form this preparation and possibly draws favorably here in gate 12 up the straight.

Benny "Banjong" Melham is also a key booking, who-  himself is airborne since returning from injury and has a great association/strike rate with the Matt Laurie stable...

🟢 RACE 5, G3 AURIE STAR, 1200m 🟢

#5 SHOOTING FOR GOLD ew ($4)

#3 KING OF SPARTA ($2.6)

Found it hard to split this talented pair in #5 SHOOTING FOR GOLD & last start winner #3 KING OF SPARTA. 

‍

SHOOTING FOR GOLD is very well weighted here and ventures down from QLD where he has a very good record. 

‍

He also has a dynamic fresh record and this race certainly looks like a target race from the stable.

‍

His most recent jump out at Flemington was very very sharp, where he showed good pace winning the jump out, with guns like Doncaster winner- MR BRIGHTSIDE to his inside and Stradbroke winner ALLIGATOR BLOOD to his outer in the heat... It was sharp work.

‍

#3 KING OF SPARTA is a beauty and got the job done for us last start at good odds.. ($7)... (1st and 2nd gapped 3rd in that race also.)

‍

Zahra jumps on here, which is certainly no disadvantage and the Snowden camp are deadset airborne in recent weeks with absolutely "ANYTHING" they bring/place south of the border in Melbourne.... Clear threat.

#10 FIRE  win ($2.4)

#1 PAS MALOTRU ew ($15)

#10 FIRE steps up in grade for this again, but it's hard to think he won't messure up, particularly at the weights (54kg). 

‍

His last two wins at Sandown have been devastating performances against weaker grade, but both performances he was idled down late once the job was done...  

‍

He's an exciting young horse on an upward spiral and his track work is forever exceptional, here at his home track at Flemington.

‍

#1 PAS MALOTRU is one of the most interesting runners on the program.. 

‍

This Hayes import hasnt had a run for 83 weeks, but I've loved his recent jump out and trials leading into this against decent opposition. 

‍

While he has to give horses like FIRE 6kgs, he's an impressive moving chestnut this horse and he BIG BIG run fresh won't shock here!!! I want to be saving on him on a each way line at the big odds.

#7 HIDDEN LEGEND ew ($4.6)

He's clearly had his issues this horse and he does come with his risks, but if he is ever going to strike it's first up and on the fresh side..

‍

He's had 19 weeks between runs, but I thought his most recent trial at Balaklava over 1050m was a very tidy piece of work.... He looked extremely sharp!!!

‍

From a good gate here, he should be able to settle 4th or 5th in running off a likely solid tempo and pounce on these at the right time ...

‍

As previously mentioned, he does come with his risks and has obviously had his fair share of issues throughout his career soundness wise, but fresh up off a smart trial, I'd be happy to back him here first up on a (1x win, 3x place) type betting strategy..
