🇦🇺MOONEY VALLEY - COX PLATE DAY 🥷
#JIGRACING #COXPLATEDAY # BIGDAWGS #TOPSPORT #BETU #PIRANHAMEDIA #MOONEYVALLEY #PROPERDAY 👊
♎ RACE 1- THE INGLIS BANNER, 2YO ♎
⭐#6 COUNT YOUR PENNIES ew ($19)
⭐#1 ARKANSAW KID (saver- win $2.9)
6 youngsters line up on debut in the first on Cox Plate day over the 1000m, for half a million slices.
It's one of the more interesting races on the card too, where you could nearly make a case for each and every runner in this..
Big crowd, plenty of noise, first race day experience, a lot of nervous energy.... How will these 2YOs handle the occasion!???
How they parade and handle all of these obstacles and challenges pre race, could and most likely will decide there fate before the gates even open..
I think the rank outsider in the field, #6 COUNT YOUR PENNIES ($19) has possibly been missed/underated here by the corps...?
Ive been quite taken with her jump outs this filly. She looks like a real early runner.
She looks nice and fit, well educated and ready to fire here on debut at a price.
She also hails from a stable who are hardly seen on the country circuit, let alone lining one up on debut- on Cox Plate day in a $500K race!!!
She has shown really nice gate speed in her jump outs and moves like a nice, bomb proof type who you'd be confident will handle a big occasion like this.
If she was trained by Ciaron Maher or James Cummings/ Goldolphin, would she be $19 off her jump outs? I doubt it..
#1 ARKANSAW KID ($2.9) is the one all the early money has came for... Along with a fairly big spruik on every street corner you want to hear it!
He has jumped out quite impressively at his past two and he's a nice, big striding type who will develop into a nice 3YO next year.
He certainly hasnt been let off the bridle yet in front of the public eye either, but any 'John Doe' could notice and see that he looks to have a gear or two well and truly up his sleeve, saving for race day🧐
He is short enough at the ($2.9), but I'd certainly want to be saving on him, to cover an each way play on the #6 COUNT YOUR PENNIES ($18)
The other key thing when assessing this race is the track. Let's be honest, It's hard to rush into anything at this track, especially early in the card.
It's a f*cking pig sty and punters absolutely hate the place. Yes or Yes?
It's brought plenty of the most talented/best horses unstuck in the past, so while a star may emerge from this first race, I'd be very forgiving of any of these 2YOs who throw in a below standard performance until we see them on another (decent) track.

♎ RACE 2- 1000m HC P♎
⭐#5 STREETCAR STRANGER ew ($7)
⭐#2 ANCESTRY ew ($17)
⭐#7 SCISSOR STEP ew ($7)
Good race..
AND they certainly won't dawdle in front... This speed map, looks frantic. 😨
#5 STREETCAR STRANGER ($7) looks ideally placed in this. He should get the run of the race off the speed.
This Jolly stable are like assassin's with these types when they bring them across the border.... They rarely get it wrong!
While I'd be more confident in his chances if this was 1100m at Caulfield, the race will be run very solidly here and play right into his hands.
He just needs to be within striking distance as it seems near impossible that they won't overdo it up front in this.
YULONG COMMAND, ESTA LA ROCA and SARTORIAL SPLENDOR all have one thing in common... They all have one gear... "Handle bars down, from go to woe"
STREETCAR STRANGER will be licking his lips if they do and you can just see him being the 'Johnny on the spot' at the right time and snipe them late
#2 ANCESTRY ($17) is first up off a long break, but he has had 5 jump outs in prep for this. His two recent ones have been nice work...
This horse also has an infinity with the Valley. He's won 3 from 5 here, is good on the fresh side and handles all track conditions....
You'd have to think with 5 trials under his belt, and two solid recent ones, that this race may have been a target race for him for some time!??.
He's very good on his day. Especially on this deck....Big watch.
#9 SCISSORS STEP ($8) is the other in the race that I'd be keeping very safe.. He's jumped out well in prep for this.
He can be quite dangerous this horse on his day, particularly when on the fresh side.
With only 54kgs on his back and this race run to suit, he is more than capable of beating them if the breaks go his way.
♎ RACE 3- RED ANCHOR STAKES ♎
⭐#2 SWEET RIDE win ($3.9)
⭐#9 GREAT BARRIER REEF ($5.5)
⭐#6 SHAILAILED ($4)
#2 SWEET RIDE is the class animal in this race.He is a very good colt.
We already know how good the 3YO form from Sydney measures up when coming south of the border to take on Melbourne's 'B-Grade' 3YO's.
The NSW 3YO's are in a different class this season to the Vic's and this guy can mix it with there A-Graders up there.
In fact, if things don't go his way, his fellow Sydney-siders in #9 GREAT BARRIER REEF ($7) & #6 SHALAILED ($4) are the two most likely to make him pay.
Pretty keen on SWEET RIDE here to win, but I'd be boxing up the NSW horses in quin/tri and any other exotic bets that catches ya fancy, as I think they have this race by the scruff of the kneck between them.
♎ RACE 5- 3YO FILLIES CLASSIC ♎
⭐#7 CLIMBING STAR ew ($7)
⭐#6 SHE'S PRETTY RICH ew ($18)
#7 CLIMBING STAR ($7) is an exciting 3YO filly by Zoustar. Better races await her in the next 12 months.
I'm not sure she could of been more impressive on debut, when settling off the pace early, before balancing up in the straight and letting go big time over the final 300m, like only good horses do.
She ran past a decent one in Calico Jack on that occasion like he was a picnic horse and Calico Jack, then came out at Cranbourne on Friday and won a hot maiden (beating Legio Ten, who boasted strong Berkeley Square form).
She is certainly not the furnished product just yet. Far from it.
I have no doubt she's the best filly in the race, but it'd be niave to think that this tight turning track may be her undoing....??
#6 SHE'S PRETTY RICH ($17) is the best roughie in the race and can win. I'd be saving on her each way at the big odds.
She's come back in very good form this prep. Forget about how it reads on paper, she's flying this time in.
Wowiee, this camp and the horses connections must be one very loyal bunch. I'll give them that..
She has been given a couple of 'Brian Higgins' specials her past two runs 😨..
He couldnt of butchered her anymore if he tried. Like couldn't of.
AND while im sure most of us aren't surprised that he has butchered the life out of the horse on multiple occasions now, I am a tad surprised they havent read the tea leaves yet... 😨😂
B.Higgins has not only mastered the art, but I'd go as far as too say, he wrote that manual..
While she draws perfectly in 6 here, the possibilities of ending up 3 wide punching the breeze, the trip, arent off the table.
If she miraculously gets given half a steer (for the first time EVER ) in this, she will be in the finish. But don't hold your breath.

♎ RACE 7- MOONEY VALLEY VASE ♎
⭐#1 BERKELEY SQUARE win ($2.45)
He's just a very good horse this bloke. His racing pattern, of settling a long way off the pace is always going to make him beatable, but on class alone, he stands out as the superior 3YO in this.
I highly doubt the 2040m will pull him up and if the pace goes on a fair way from home, then those big bright lime silks are going to be hard to hold out.
He was terrific in the Guineas and arguably could of won with even luck.
What impresses me the most about this horse, is each and every run this campaign, he's not only improved, but he's overcome multiple hurdles and obstacles in running, yet still found ways to pick himself up and attack the line. You can't teach that.
#12 JENNY JEROME ($9) is tracking along lovely this campaign, with no doubt the Oaks being the race where we see her completely screwed down and peaking.
I'd be reluctant to leave her out of your exotics. She's going very well this girl and she will only improve with each and every run this campaign.
🏆RACE 9- G1 COX PLATE 🏆
⭐#10 ANAMOE win ($2.4)
⭐#12 EL BODEGON ew ($5)
Whether #10 AMAMOE wins today or not, he's ALREADY a champion.. Enough of that silly debate..
Too be the dominant 2YO of his year, then back it up as the clear champion 3YO the following season is nearly unheard of in this day and age. Especially from a Colt.
So to think that he has improved again this campaign, as a 4YO while stepping up and taking on the older champs at level weights/WFA and beating them, has already nuffed out any of the doubters and confirmed his status as our countries clear best WFA horse in my view..
He doesn't win by much in his races.... A lot of the champions don't.
He has never really put fields away his whole career, outside of giving them a hiding in the Rosehill Guineas last year...
If he wins today, he will firmly put himself in a bracket alongside champs like Northerly, Lohnro & Octagonal ...
Who funnily enough, won a lot of there races in the same manner... (Just doing enough )...
While I'll certainly be cheering for him, I couldn't rush in and back him at even money.....
BUT you'd be a brave punter to take him on.....
90% of this field had there chances last start to beat him and couldn't.
If anything , they should of, given the way he wobbled around the Caulfield bend, costing himself ground, while genuine superstars like I'M THUNDERSTRUCK & ZAAKI were travelling better and off and gone.
The way he picked himself up after hitting that flat spot and still attacked the line, while running past those other two WFA guns, in my opinion, was phenomenal.
I just can't see any of them turning the tables on him, even though the margin was a head.
The joker in the pack is clearly this very nice import #12 EL BODEGON ($5)....
He looks like a proper, proper horse this bloke 😳...
Watching him glide around the valley when doing one of his final pieces of work, during the week, confirmed that...
He moves and covers the ground like a heavy weight Banji 🧐😳🦍...
If anyone is knocking off ANAMOE today, I tend to think it'll be this import.
It wouldn't be the first time a proper European, middle distance/stayer has come to our shores and giving the swift reminder on how putrid our C - Grade stayers really are.
But these certainly aren't our C-Graders today and it'll be one hell of a race!
♎ RACE 11- G1 MANIKATO STAKES ♎
⭐#2 ELEVAN ELEVAN ew ($17)
⭐#5 PAULELE ($3.6)
⭐#10 BELLA NIPPOTINA ($4.2)
Its a pretty decent card of racing, when you throw in a G1 MANIKATO STAKES as the last on the card....
Thankfully the racing club used there brains and quickly rescheduled the race for today.
If you have had a tough day on the punt (and you're chasing your ass), then I'd be entertaining have a little each way whack on #2 ELEVAN ELEVAN @ ($17)....
If is not one of the most underrated horses in the 3 years, I'll give it away... He is dead set marval..
Prep after prep he turns up this horse.
AND Year after year, there he is, knocking off hot pots, and people out of quaddies in big $$$ races on the Gold Coast, before venturing down to Sydney occasionally and bobbing up from time to time, and always at a price..
He can certainly throw in a below par one from time to time, but I can't see how he won't run well here... ??
The two favorites in the race (PAULELE & BELLA NIPPOTINA) have both had multiple tries at winning G1 races and haven't.
So while certainly no knock on either of those horses, they are both stars, but it's not a vintage edition of the race this year.
He also draws Gate 7, right next to PAULELE in gate 6....
Hughie and JMac will likely let the hot speed unfold early, and I think Hughie will be hell bent on getting PAULELE's back in running and tagging him everywhere....
If he can get that cart into the race and be within a length of him and in clear air, well he's best efforts will give him and this field a big scare!!!
Good Luck 🥷👊
